Land of Lost Gift Cards

The Brief: Gift cards are often the gift that gets forgotten. Let’s create a buzz-worthy idea that inspires gift card givers or gift card getters to use those forgotten cards finally.

The Problem: 54% of U.S. consumers buy gift cards as holiday gifts each year. Yet, squirreled away in a drawer with the hope of future use, many gift cards are never cashed in, leading to 21 billion dollars sitting on unspent gift cards.

The Idea:  Let’s inspire people to put those forgotten gift cards to GOOD use. We’ll create a “Land of Lost Gift Cards” microsite based on the 1964 Christmas stop-motion animated television special “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys.” A site where forgotten gift cards can be used for good by collecting information from gift cards folks find throughout the year and then donate it to a charity of their choice after the holidays.

The Execution: Using AI, we designed the landscape and key visuals as inspiration for our site. Those AI renders were recreated in 3D visuals by our team. Sprinkle in a flurry of snow and a coworker’s VO, and we had a year-long microsite that bring holiday cheer and help those in need, too!
